It's one more week before I fly off to Zurich for my Student Escaping Programme (SEP). It should be Exchange, not Escaping. But that was my initial purpose in applying for this programme - to escape from the fast-paced student life in NUS. But then again, perhaps I am wrong. I heard rumours that ETH Zurich, my SEP university has a very high standard as well. It's one of the best uni in Europe. They boast a list of Nobel Prize Winners working or studying in the institution. In fact, Einstein was a graduate from the Physics department of ETH Zurich way back in 1900.   

 

As the departure date is approaching, I feel excited as well as depressed. I'm excited because this is like a dream come true - I dream of studying in Europe. I have developed a strong affection towards European culture ever since I went to Germany in 2004. I am excited to immerse myself fully in the new culture and environment of Switzerland. However, I feel rather depressed at the notion of leaving many dear friends in Singapore, friends who always been there as my source of strength and encouragement in times of need. So, here I am now, counting days to the start of my 1-year study stint in Europe. If God permits (I say so, b'cos man can plan his way, but God's plan prevails), I will leave Singapore in less than 1 week.
